Our Beers

Our beers are handcrafted in small batches. They are unfiltered, unpasteurized, and bottle conditioned. Haze and sediment from the live yeast in the bottle are a result of the natural process used to create these beers. For best appearance, decant carefully into a clean, clear glass.

New for Summer!

Spinnaker

Spinnaker is the perfect companion to a lazy summer day. Witha nod to the traditional hazy wheat beers of Germany, our hefeweizen balances sweet yeast esters and spicy phenolics with a refreshing bready body. Prost!

Maine Island Trail Ale

Witha bright malt body and bold notes of citrus and pine from the hop blend including Citra and Simcoe, this hoppy American ale is the perfect accompaniment to summer in Maine.

The second beer in our Collaboration Series, we are honored to produce this beer in celebration of 25 years of the Maine Island Trail. The Maine Island Trail Association's thoughtful use and volunteer stewardship of Maine's wild islands mirrors Rising Tide's respect and love for the coast of Maine.

A protion of the proceeds will benefit the Maine Island Trail Association. Learn more at mita.org.

Our Core Beers

Daymark

Chart a new course with Daymark as your guide. We start with a classic, clean and crisp American pale ale brewed with spicy Columbus and Centennial hops. Then we accent the grain bill with rye grown on small local family farms right here in Maine and malted to our specifications at Valley Malts, an artisanal malt house. Finally we dry hop the finished beer for a bright floral aroma. Availability: Year round.

daymark [dey-mahrk] (n)—a navigational aid distinctively marked for daytime visibility, normally attached to a permanent structure in the water

Ishmael

Ishmael is our richly-flavored American copper ale. This American interpretation of the altbiers of Düsseldorf is brewed with continental Munich malt, American-grown hops, and a clean-fermenting ale yeast to produce a slightly sweet and malty beer balanced by a firm bitterness. Availability: Year round.

Ishmael [ish-mey-uhl] (n)—narrator and protagonist of the Herman Melville novel Moby Dick.

Zephyr

Heady like the sweet breath of Zephyrus, our India pale ale is redolent of citrus, apples, and pears, balanced by a touch of caramel. We use malted barley grown by local farmers and add a special blend of Cascade, Centennial, and Calypso hops to create this juicy, hoppy ale. Availability: Year round.

Zephyr (n)—a westerly breeze or wind, considered by many to be the fairest of wind direction

Ursa Minor

Dark as squid ink and moody as the sea, Ursa Minor is our take on a winter wheat beer. Starting with a German wheat-beer yeast and a base of malted wheat, we added a blend of dark crystal and roasted malts to create a wheat stout. Redolent of dark fruit, weizen yeast esters, and roasted barley, Ursa Minor is perfect for an icy winter’s eve. Availability: September through April.

Ursa Minor [ur-suh mahy-ner] (n)—constellation also known as the Little Bear, which contains the north star, Polaris

Atlantis

Whether you are celebrating lost cities under the sea or shooting for low Earth orbit, take Atlantis along for the ride. We use a special blend of dark malts and add Galaxy, Cascade, and Calypso hops to create this smooth and hoppy black ale with just a whisper of cherry-wood smoke. We think Poseidon would approve. Availability: limited in 2012 and 2013 due to hop shortages.

atlantis [at--lan-tes] (n)—a fabled island in the Atlantic that according to legend sank beneath the sea west of Gibraltar

Special Releases

Polaris, 2011 Vintage

Polaris was our first special release beer—a wheat stout aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels. We started with our winter weizen stout Ursa Minor, fermenting it to completion in steel before barrel aging it for 5 months. Hints of the base beer remain but with the added complexity of vanilla, raisin, bourbon, and oak notes. Conditioned to a moderately low level of carbonation in the bottle, this beer was a perfect cold-evening sipper.

Limited release of 336 hand-numbered bottles with letter press labels printed by The Ascensius Press in South Freeport, Maine. A portion of the proceeds from this beer benefitted the Autism Society of Maine.

Tempest, September 2012

Tempest was the first release from our seven barrel series. A smooth brown porter, Tempest featured healthy portions of dark crystal, chocolate, and brown malts, coupled with the addition of coffee beans to the mash and cold-steeped coffee during conditioning for a rich smooth balance of malt and coffee.

We are pleased to have partnered with Bard Coffee to produce this beer. Bard provided the wonderful Nicaragua Don Rodolfo Dark coffee with hints of bittersweet coffee and smoke. Orange in color and slightly hazy, this beer had notes of citrus and pepper and a luxuriant mouthfeel from the oats. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

Entrepôt was available in draft only.

Tempest, November 2012
