A collaboration between Freeport Wild Bird Supply, Dr. Noah Perlut, and Rising Tide Brewing Co where every sip helps fun research and conservation.
Dr. Brian Olsen, Associate Professor, University of Maine, Orono, presents: Using Birds to Predict the Future of Tidal Marshes.
Tidal Marshes are inhabited by species with unique adaptations for survival. Sea-level rise is already challenging these adaptations, and the outcome for these species, the ecosystem as a whole, and the services they supply our society remains unclear. This presentation discusses the state of tidal marsh bird populations in the Northeast US, with an eye towards what that can tell us about how marshes are weathering the rising waters.
Light refreshments and nonalcoholic beverages will be provided by Freeport Wild Bird Supply free of charge. For every 10oz beer purchased, Rising Tide will donate $1 to the Saltmarsh Habitat and Avian Research Program – a collaborative group committed to conserving tidal marshes and tidal marsh birds in an era of sea-level rise and coastal development.
